Vacation Update

Well, today is Thursday. We've arrived in Flagstaff, AZ. Patti and I couldn't be happier to be in the cooler weather. IT'S SO NICE! It's absolutely gorgeous here, and tomorrow we are going to take on the Grand Canyon. Today on the way to Flagstaff we saw the Hoover Dam and red Rock Canyon in Las Vegas. Hoover Dam was neat, the water looked gorgeous, and it's hard to convey the sheer size of the dam and the gorge. Red Rock Canyon just outside Vegas was really pretty as well. To be honest I was more excited about the views of the the natural wonders of the rocks and the mountains, than I was of the Strip and Las Vegas.
Yesterday in Vegas was a lot of fun though. Patti and started the day doing the Timeshare presentation, I have to admit that we both found it to be a pretty good deal, but we did not succumb. That afternoon I went to the Star Trek Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton. That was really quite cool. There were people walking in around in costumes, and there were two rides or experiences. The first one I went on was the Borg Experience. In that you start out with live actors who guide you through parts of a mock space station, then you go sit in a theater and watch a movie in 3-D and the seats also poke and prod you as you are "infected" with the Borg virus. The second ride I went on was the Klingon attack. This is a simulator ride in which you ride a shuttlecraft and wind you way through a nebula, a space station, and downtown Las Vegas. The night was a lot of fun. We went and saw Spamalot, which is a Monty Python production starring John O'hurley, it's kind of a spoof of The Holy Grail. I laughed the entire time. It was so very funny. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wanted to see a Vegas show.
The Drive today was fun. The speed limit was 75 mph. There was no Police either. I got to go 95 mph almost the entire way after Hoover Dam. That was fun. Overall, it's been a good vacation, and I look forward to see how it ends.
